Loudi / Marrakech

Loudi

One day, from morning light to firelight

Luxury resort, Marrakech, Morocco

Begin the day
Pool and arched facade of Loudi seen past a sheer curtain
Torch and candlelight between the palms at night

You don’t tell a place like Loudi in a single image. You tell it in a day.

We captured the resort’s atmosphere the way a guest lives it: the first light through the curtain, the quiet by the water, the scent of mint tea and charcoal, and an evening lit by candles and fire. Not loose pictures, but one story, in photography and film.

Timeline
Morning to night

07:30Morning

The light comes in slowly.

Curtains drawn open, arch shadows on warm plaster. Mornings at Loudi are soft, so that is how we photographed and filmed them.

Soft shadow of a Moorish arch on a warm plaster wall
Two bands of sunlight across terracotta herringbone steps
Carved stucco and a tiled urn panel in the riad courtyard

12:00Afternoon

Time slows by the water.

Turquoise water, palms, a chess board in the shade. We followed the rhythm of the afternoon: calm, sunlit and unhurried.

Curved pool with terracotta lanterns among the palms
Sunlight rippling across the turquoise pool water

Guest sipping a drink beneath the palms

Pool steps cut by sharp afternoon light
Sun loungers and parasols between the palm trees
Arched doorway opening onto set terrace tables
Waiter walking along the pool past the loungers
Garden pavilions with curtains and a heart-shaped arch

16:30Ritual

Mint tea, charcoal and tagine.

Behind the calm sits craft. The team preparing the coals, tea poured from up high, the hospitality that makes Loudi Loudi.

Glowing charcoal being placed in clay pots

19:00Dusk

The sky turns pink above the palms.

The brief moment when day turns into evening. Silhouettes, the first moon, the last warm light in the courtyard.

22:00Night

Candles, fire and blankets by the water.

When darkness falls, the resort lights up. We captured the evening in the light that was there: flames, lanterns and the glow of the pool.
